Pool Etiquette at Orchard Crossing Apartments

In practicing pool etiquette at Orchard Crossing Apartments, you'll want to take the time to notice the pool rules posted around the facility.
Know the Rules: They might be on the corner of a wall or another visible spot. But it will certainly break down all the rules and expectations that Orchard Crossing has of swimmers at the pool.
Use the Outdoor Shower: Community pools like ours requests everyone showers or rinses at the outdoor shower before entering the pool. The reason is that you want to rinse off sweat, dirt, body oil, anything that you might be putting into the pool. Not doing so will give that oil slick look to the surface of the swimming pool. Oils like these cling to other swimmers and drains and extra maintencence could close the pool for a day or more.
"Going Potty": While it feels natural and people just have a tendency of doing that, it's best to not to for sanitary reasons. Pool water is inhaled or drunk accidentally as you or anyone swims and it will be a health hazard. Young children need swim diapers and should be asked regularly to use our outdoor bathroom.
Eating and Drinking: Good pool etiquette means not really eating, or drinking in pools. That would clog the filters, if you're not careful, you could likely choke on food or a drink. Orchard Crossing believes that safety is first and foremost when having fun.
If You Have Long Hair: As good pool etiquette, it's best to wear a swim cap, in order to keep the drains, filters, unclogged. With etiquette practices like these, we can swim seven days a week without the pool closing for major maintenance.
Never Leave Children Unsupervised: Of course, that is a given, right? But did you know that leaving children, or too many children with an under aged person or an adult who can't swim will put everyone at risk? Pools are fun, only if younger ones know pool safety and are properly supervised.
Loud Music and Noise: Noises and music should never be louder than your own party of swimmers listening to it. It is best to enjoy your music with headphones while soaking in the sun and keep conversations at a casual level.
Remember, cords of any kind are extremely dangerous around water.
Garbage: Always pick up after yourselves and check of all your personal belongings. Did you know that personal belongings are commonly lost at community pool sites? Yes, water shoes and towels may be economical, but purchasing them over and over isn't.

By the way, the community pool opens in late May/early June. Hope to see you there!
